Hello,

I have a question about using NH3 for aluminum kovar brazing. What would be the difference in using NH3 rather than nitrogen or nitrogen/hydrogen in the furnace?

Temperature. Ammonia needs less thermal energy to bind with steel, in say, a gas nitration application. Nitrogen, which is primarily obtained from liquidation of air, needs a higher activation energy. Because of the necessity in processing it and then with the application, ammonia is cheaper and pretty much as plentiful.
