dear abaqus users,
I was modelling a model with contact parts (cohesive surface). Previous I've defined the material property in my model to be elastic and it works. Then I've incorporated UMAT just to define the material damage (once damage criterion has met, reduce the stress to 0.01 original stress) and it lead the model to have convergence issue (too many attempts). I've searched the website and tried different ways to modify the model:such as modifying the abaqus default setting of maximum number of iteration, reduce the initial time increment, using element distortion contol and so on, however, the error message still exist. I'm thinking there might be something wrong with my UMAT--I've test it using a cubic unit cell single element model and it seems to go in the right way as expected.Just don't know what should I do next. Anyone have any comments? Thanks.
