I have started using Abaqus few months ago, so this might be a simple problem but I can't solve it. In my model I must set a displacement of one rigid part that becomes in contact with a deformable part. But it only works when the displacement is small. When I use a large displacement the job is aborted because convergence problems.
What should I do? Is there anything to do with interaction properties?

Thanks..

If it's failing in the first increment or two of the step, try setting a small initial displacement for the 1st increment of the step. For example:

*STATIC
** init'l time period min. max.
** time of step time time
0.05, 1.00 , 0.0000001 , 0.20

sets the size of the initial increment to 5% of the total in the step. ABAQUS will increase the size of subsequent increments to a maximum of 20% of the step size if convergence remains satisfactory.

Are you using NLGEOM?

thanks mrgoldthorpe

I just didn't pay attention on the NLGeom.
