convert drawing to document

Hi!

I would like to insert a drawing into a word-document. How can I do that? I have tried all the available file types in ProE.
The closest I got was to save the drawing as a PDF-file and then insert it as an object in word. But when the drawing contains 3 pages, the last 2 pages didn´t show up.

Any tips?

I have had the best results setting up a CGM printer .pcf file in Pro/E that prints to a file. It will make a separate file for each sheet in the drawing. Word imports the CGM files pretty cleanly.

I am not familiar with this program. So how do I create a pcf-file?
I can save to drawing to a CGM-file. How do i procced?

For the PDF method you tried, did you creat a pdf for each page of the drawing or just one for the whole document? For general printing I always had to go to each drawing sheet and print individually, the PDF-print might work similarly.

If worst comes to worst, you can always print screen in Pro/E and past the image into Word. Not the best way to do it, but I've used the trick a few times myself.

I think i will have to use the "print-screen-copy-paste"-method.

You can try "save as" CGM but it doesn't do things quite the same as going through the print command. Printer Control Files (.pcf files) are just Pro/E's way of defining printers. You don't have to use one but for repeated tasks they save a lot of hassles and wasted effort. Go to file/print/add printer type and scroll down to CGM. Pick the configure button and you can change all kinds of things about scaling, etc. Pick save and it will save your .pcf file. These are just ascii text files, like most Pro/E configuration files you can edit it with any text editor.

The CGM files are nice vector based files that look 100% better than screen dumps.

When I save the file like the way you describe I get a .plt-file. If I understand you correct I should receive a .pcf which I kan open/insert as an object in word?

I tried to open the PDF-files in Photoshop and then save as an .jpeg and the open it in word. But the result was not perfect so if your method is wokring, perhaps you can tell me what Im doing wrong?

Rename the .plt file .cgm. You need to set the config.pro option plot_names to YES to get Pro/E to put extensions other than .plt on the files.
