Converting an eDrawings File

Hi,
I have been sent an Edrawings file from my client and would like to use it in 3dStudio Max.

Max can import IGES, STL and VRML files aswell as 3ds and DWG files.

Is there any way to convert the eDrawings file to any of these file formats or will I need to get the client to export it from SolidWorks? Ideally I would like the textures to come with through with the file conversion but not essential.

It is not possible to export geometry from eDrawings. This is a feature to protect the intended users of eDrawings that prevents 3rd parties from "seeing too much" by illicitly extracting 3D data.

Just have your client send you the IGES file.

I think the textures are software specific...

Each Software I have used: SolidWorks, Solid Edge, AutoDesk Inventor, AutoCAD, 3DStudio Vis...

Each have a different way of handeling textures/materials...

I have yet to see the materials be able to transfer with the part to a different CAD package...

This is because every CAD package has their own set of materials...

However, they do usually give you an option to export/import/create materials...

If you can't find the material in the target cad package, maybe you should look into creating your own...
