Converting Between Sprinkler Density/Area Designs

Is there any logic in saying that if a sprinkler system was designed to provide 0.18 gpm/sq.ft. over 2,000 sq.ft., than it could deliver a higher density over a smaller density such as 0.2 gpm/sqft over 1,500 sq.ft. Since less sprinklers would operate in the smaller area, would they each receive higher pressure resulting in higher flow/higher density?

Or is the area chosen completely separate from the design density.

The only way to be sure is to do the hydraulic calculations to prove it. Your argument makes sense.
