Hi All,

just a question, my fren told me you can not do a direct conversion for a split unit air con compressor from horsepower to BTU.

Can any one advise.
For example to convert 5HP for a VRV system to BTU.

thanks

If you are trying to convert the cooling load removal capability of an air-conditioning compressor driven by a one hp motor, the answer is as follows:

1 hp is approximately equal to 1 ton of air-conditioning
1 ton is equal to 12,000 btuh.

Hi BUNDY!

1 hp = 2546.6 BTU/h
1 hp = 0.7457 kW
1 ton refrigerating = 3.519 kW
1 kW = 3415.2 BTU/h

Remenber that BTU means energy (not related with time). If you want power, give the time for the energy to be delivered, BTU/second, BTU/hour ...

cheers

You could download the SP811 from NIST web-site. Majority of unit definition and conversion were include.
