Is it possible to convert and Inventor file to Solidworks?? In the open box it says it can open it up but when i try it says it's an incompatible version of inventor.

Frontline,

it could be that you are getting a newer version of Inventor files. They just recently released V8...

Me thinks SW only does Inventor files up to version 5.3, if that helps you any.

In lieu of that, you may need to IGES, ACIS, or something them out, and open those in SW....

IGES is not a whole lot of use in solid modelling systems like SolidWorks. All you get is a whole bunch is 3D curves and surfaces. The curves are a huge overhead, and the surfaces may or may not heal into a solid with or without considerable effort.
