I am designing a conveyor support structure that is going to support many pieces of conveyor equipment and walkways. Usually when we have designed a structure like this the manufacturer has given us conveyor dead loads and live loads. From there we would just apply the loading where needed then run a modal analysis to generate our seismic loading on the structure.
The manufacture for these conveyors have give us static and dynamic loads. The static loading we are just going to use as a dead load. The dynamic loading has information such as accelerations, speeds, and forces. We plan to just use the horizontal and vertical forces given from the dynamic loading chart and use that along with our modal analysis.
My question is, do we have to use the accelerations given or could we just apply the loads as I proposed doing. If we have to using the masses and accelerations I believe we will have to use the Time History function in Risa 3D and I am not too familiar with this function in the program.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Garrett
