2 Questions:

1. How do cooling coils collect condensate when they are mounted in a horizontal position? In vertical position it drips off the face and into a pan is easily understood, but wouldn't some kind of horizontal coil pan collector disturb air flow? Anyone have any pics?

2. In terms of VRF (variable refrig flow), does each fan coil have its own TXV? Does the refrig self flash as it gains heat from the air? Wouldn't the refrig return in different states & temps on the suction side?

Thanks

The evaporator coil has several designs for airflow through the coil and draining the condensate water from the coil, depending on how it's installed. The different designs are known as the"A" coil, and the "H" coil. The "A" coil is used for upflow, downflow and horizontal applications. Then there is the slant coil, a one piece coil mounted in the duct at a 60 degree angle. The "H" coil is nornally applied to Horizontal applications although it can be applied to vertical applications by useing special drain pan configuations. What must be understood is whatever configuration is used all air flow must be perpendicular to the coil so condensate can drain to pan.
