Hi all,
We have recently had some issues with one of our Cooper TS reclosers tripping all three phases (ground tripping), even though it is set to single phase trip- single phase lockout. Our sales rep states that it is due to the coordination between our phase and ground trip curves. In my opinion, if the device trips on ground, it should still only take the phase involved. Hopefully somebody has experience with this issue. Our typical setting is a 105 phase fast, 111 ground fast, 133 phase delayed and 140 ground delayed. The only time I have seen the three phase tripping has been on the fast curves. We run a combination of 1A3C and 2A2C, this specific unit is set up 2A2C. The minimum trip level of this recloser is 450 phase, 240 ground. I have never heard of coordinating phase and ground curves for the same device. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have any event reports from the controller to review? Any SER reports? Are you using the standard configuration , or have any changes been made to the logic via proview?

I have attached the SOE from the recloser. The fault date was 14/12/29 on the event log. The only changes we make to the logic involve front panel LEDs, event reporting and battery testing, so nothing that would affect operation.

I'm not familiar with the Cooper triple single operation, but SEL determines whether to trip on single of three phase based on a determination of which phases are faulted, not on whether the ground or phase element operates.
