Hi Could somebody advise me is there is any way to update point tables after they have been created. Is there any way of linking the table and the space point.

Is this a "design table" in Catia V5 that you are talking about? Or are you talking about an actual "point table" (invoked by IUA) in V4?

If you're talking V5, I'm putting together a tutorial on design tables (V5) right now. I'll be linking to the FAQ, and the FAQ will point you to the CATBlog when it's finished.

No it is a V5 question. I should have made it clearer. as for the v4 IUA there are several depending on which supplier you are working for.

Hi,

How do you create a points table? What is a points table?

We have to do drawings specifing Global XYZ position for edge positions. I've traditionally done this by manually creating a table by manually typing out the measurments from the CATPart window. I'll give our helpdesk a ring if this is what it is.

Thanks,

Darren

There is a function to enable users to create a coordinate point table. This gives the coordinates (either 2D or 3D) of each point selected relative to a local or global axis. It is within the dimension function.

Oh - point table!

There is no way that I know of to make these associative, unless you are clever enough to associate the values to a design table. I have not attempted to do this, so I'm not 100% certain that it can be done.

You can manually change the values, but it is really funky the way that the table handles. You have to click and/or double click in "just the right way." It's very awkward.

If you need further instruction in how to modify the values, let me know. I'll do my best.

Thanks very much. I thought that was the case. You are certainly right about the funky bit. Does anybody know how to change the number of decimal places in the table. On R12 it seems to have a default of 2 which is fine but now on R14 I get 6 places and cannot find out how to change it.

System is HP AIX
V5 R14 sp3 DaimlerChrysler environment

You must change the decimal precision BEFORE you select the points...

Sorry.

View -> Toolbars -> Dimension Tools (make sure that it's checked)

Use the last pull down on the right, in that tool palette to adjust the decimal precision.

Again, for your selection to be of any effect, you MUST choose it BEFORE you select the points.

Otherwise, I would refer you to the numerous recent threads regarding standards, to set the default precision.

Hello Again
On Windows it works perfectly but Unix does not work
thanks for your help

I can't help you. I have V4 on Unix, but not V5.
