Does anybody know what type of copper alloy is NRB. What would be the C number or chemical composition?

Not sure, but it may well be Naval Rolled Brass (Tobin bronze) i.e. 60% copper, 39% zinc, 0.75% tin. This brass has increased corrosion resistance and is commonly used for condenser tube plates.

It is specified on an old drawing (1956) for a Heat Exchanger Tubesheet. It says: B171 NRB. Tubes are Cu/Ni 90/10 , so it could well be Naval Rolled Brass as suggested.

Without looking it up, 60% Cu sounds like Muntz (C28000), a common tubesheet material.
Naval is C46400, also 60%Cu. There used to be a dozen variations of this with Sb, As, and all sorts of other additions.

ijzer, just noticed this thread. An older copy of SB-171 lists "Naval Brass, Uninhibited" as C46400 and "Naval Brass, Arsenical" as C46500. Bound to be one or the other.

Regards,

Mike
