Does anybody know why they don´t use (much) aluminium cable to put in the sea bed? Has it do with cable laying?

Use of copper permits a higher current density, reducing the overall diameter of the cable. In the event of the cable being damaged and sea water entering it, copper conductors are much more resistant to corrosion than aluminium conductors.
