Copper Wire Braiding vs. Stranded Wire

Hi all,
There is a question that has arisen at my work place concerning frame grounding of 110v/220v frames, cabinets, plc racks, and such like.
Is it more reasonable to use wire braid for framing or continue with stranded wire. There seems to be a benefit to braid because of lightning dissipation over the braid vs. runing the surface of stranded wire.
I am involved in the mining industry, and we are prone to
lightning strikes in our area. This plays havoc with the solid state devices at times.I would appreciate any comments or thoughts. Thanks

The braid can provide a lower impedance path for high frequencies, so it should improve the signal grounding. The only downside to the braid is the cost and connections. You have to make sure you have a good low impedance connection at each end.
