Copy Drafting Entities

I have text and non-model geometry in one drawing that I would like to copy in place to a second drawing. Is this possible and if so, how?

Create a symbol of the entities you wish to transfer
Export the symbol
Open the second drawing
Create Instance and browse to select previously exported symbol.
If you need to edit the information in the second drawing then you will have to Smash the symbol.
