If something is easy for US shapes is to find the correct name for each beam thanks to the AISC Construction Manual.
But with European sizes, I have found some problems.
HE900A
HEA900
HE 900 A
HEA 900
Are all these names the same beam?
Is there any technical document that give the correct names?

Thanks a lot.

I think you could find similar information applicable in Europe. There are a number of steel standards i Europe but I don't think I have seen any regarding your specific question.

I am used to HEA 900, I think that is the norm today. You have first the type of section IPE/UPE/HEA/HEB/HEM etc, and then a number (often the height).

As for the other examples you give, I have seen them all and as far as I know it is the same beam section. Im my experience, it has varied over time but I think the actual beam cross section has been the same in Europe for a long time. But I have heard of variations for beams imported from, for example, China.

HE 900A has one vote!
and HEA 900 one vote!
I've found lot of sources with all kind of nomenclature.
I'm thinking about something conclusive

I could only open one of HTURKAK's references and it is from Arcelor, one of Europes larger steel suppliers. My references are different but also from suppliers. I have checked a few standards regarding steel but I have not found any support for either HEA 900 nor HE 900 A in a European standard.

On the positive side, I don't think it would be misunderstood but that does not really answer your question.

the old therminology was (and still I use it) : HE 600 A because there is also HE 600 B and also HE 600 M.
A serie means "light", B serie means "standard" , M serie means "strengthened" .
size 600 is the max standard size (from the steel mill). 900 is welded profile

HE 600 A.. are you sure the HE over 600 are not hot rolled shapes?
It's not they will be designed as built-up beams?

Thanks.

-I have uploaded again the EURONORM 53-62 which is the basis for dimensions of HE sections..

-The latest available sections for HE beams have series of ( AA,A,B and M)..

- AFAIK, all manufacturers and the standard EURONORM 53-62 use the notation e.g. ( HE 900 AA, HE 900 A,HE 900 B and HE 900 M)..

I found what I think is the current European standard for steel sections,"EN 10365:2017, Hot rolled steel channels, I and H section - Dimensions and masses". But I can only access a few sample pages and the reference is HE sections so I can't see the complete nomeclature.

Oh, Thank you ThomasH,
It looks the HE nomenclature is as
HE 280 AA

But in IPEs
IPE O 300

Other shapes,
HL 1000 B
HD 400 × 634
HP 360 × 152
UB 305 × 127 × 37
UC 254 × 254 × 132
IPN 600
J 152 × 127 × 37
UPE 220
PFC 430 × 100 × 64
UPN 400
U 60 × 30 × 6
CH 254 × 89 × 36
