Corrosion of glass in sea water

I'm doing research on the corrosion of glass in sea water and am trying to determine how high pH, alkalinity and hardness contribute. I have references that note water tends to leach out the soda and lime in glass but wondered if someone had more to say?

What kind of glass are you concerned with?
Leaching decreases as you go from cheap soda glass to borosilicate (Pyrex, Kimax) to 96% fused silica (Vycor) to 100% fused silica.
There are plenty of studies over the last 50 years studies re quantitative chemical analysis & (more recently)environmental sampling where a typical test might be filling with 1 or 5% nitric acid for 24 hours at 100F, then analyzing the test solution for leachate.
A good quantitative analysis book, especially those on trace metal analysis, will cover leachate from Pyrex-type & silica glass.

In response to the question from KENVLACH; reports on saltwater corrosion on traditional soda glass 50 years old or more are of keen interest. Not the borosilicate or higher grades. Any references to the corrosion process that pits soda glass is desired. The only one found thus far is a PPG report. Thank you.
