Hi All
Recently i had been asked to check the corrosion rate of Aluminium alloys from interaction with a few 'low use' solutions and compounds. While i couldnot find anything in handbooks, i moved on to research papers and books.... the past research (ie generation of corrosion data from these compounds) had focused on steel only, whereas the performance specs (ie coupon specification for testing data / MIL-STDS of these compounds) focused on steel, bronze and brass only.
now my question is:
1. will the behaviour be same / similar for aluminium as it is for steel?
2. Is it necessary to caliberate the corrosion data for corrosion specs with steel. i mean, can the corrosion rates for other metals be interpolated or extrapolated from steel-data?
3. Will the cleaning procedures,as developed for steel, be applicable to aluminium as well?
PS:

i am not a material specialist. Apologies for asking very basics
