I am tring to spec some turbo outlet exhaust connectors and was wondering if someone could tell me the difference between a corrugated flex joint and an expansion joint.

An expansion joint is any type of joint that allows for expansion (usually due to heat).

A corrugated flex joint is a type of expansion joint.

Wouldn't a corrugated flex joint allow a certain amount of rotation as well as linear expansion?

Be careful, as corrugated metal flex unit with wire mesh overbraid sometimes don't like axial compression. Attempting to make them shorter in the axial direction slackens the braiding, defeating the benefit of the overbraid.

I don't believe that corrugated flex joints will tolerate much axial rotation, at least in my experience.
