Corrugated Steel Deck Orientation 1

Hello Everyone,

I am trying to understand how to determine which direction the corrugated steel deck should span? I looked up online but surprisingly there was no info on how to determine that. Would someone kindly help me?

Its only strong in one direction. Parallel with the ribs.

I am trying to understand how to determine which direction the corrugated steel deck should span?

Usually the shortest direction possible between supports in order to maximize the efficiency of the deck. Where the supports are beams, this will mean a spanning direction perpendicular to those beams. Deck installers don't like to switch the direction of the deck gratuitously though which does result in some minor, local exceptions.
