Hey guys,
This is a LITTLE off topic, but though the SW forum would be the best palce to tackle it, since I couldn't find a cosmos forum of any kind and theyr'e quite similar in interface design (intentionally). I've been playing around with running external flow simulations in COSMOS DesignStar / Fluid Flow, and having mixed results. My studies generally run corrrectly, and my results/convergence look good, but I'm having trouble getting the actual answers I want. For example, say I was trying to find lift produced by an aerofoil. Am I correct in modelling the space around the aerofoil, and to then have a piece missing out of this solid, that's the shape of the wing? I can't seem to be able to get the post to show me, "here's the total components of force on these surfaces in all the various directions" or the average pressures in a surface, or whatever. Would I have better luck placing a solid in that region, and definaing it as a solid part (this seems like a waste of CPU time, since there's no issues with heat transfer, etc.) The help is pretty useless in the areas of external flow, especially in visualizing and results related to it. Lastly, I'd like to generate a plot of say, surface pressure on my wing, rather than the pressures in the volume all around my wing. What am I missing here? Thanks for any help (or a pointer to where I can find it). I assume anyone with experience with FlowWorks could answer these questions, since they're generally the same, other than Flow works is jamme dinto SW directly.
