Could someone point me to a tutorial/example where I can analyze my internal-bull gear and my follower-pinion gear?

Ok, I did it. There's gotta be an easier way. I created an axis on the pinion gear and mated it concentrically with the bull gear. Or maybe it'll be easier next time? (When you have no COSMOS training, the first time's usually a shot in the dark.)
