Hello,

I am a ME but very inexperienced with pressure vessels. I know this is a very general question but...

What would the approximate cost to make a cube vacuum chamber with dimension about 2m x 1.5m x 1m with a vacuum rating about 0.5mbar?

Does anyone have any experience building a similar structure give an approximate cost?

Thanks.

This is a design forum. You haven't given us material or intended use. Basically someone would have to cutom design this, figure out the sections and weights, add in assembly and do a take off.
Pick up that 2000 lb. phone and make some calls.

Hmm...looks like 0.5mbar is about 1 lb/square foot. I think you just described a plywood box.

I assume he's not considering atmospheric pressure of zero...

This is 0.5mbar absolute pressure not a vacuum gauge pressure.
But I will contact some suppliers for more information. Thanks.

In that case...
Most pressure vessel manufacturers could also make a vacuum chamber of varying sizes, covered under the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code in the US.
It'd likely be cheaper to make it round rather than square.
On a small vessel, much of the cost may be in the openings, so it would help to have an idea of what was to be required there.
It'd just be rated for "full vacuum".
