Could I use a relay/resistor for this

I have a 1.5 hp 115/230v pump that draws 22/11 amps. The type of controller I want to use for the application only handles 10 amps. Is there a way to still use this controller? What if the controller is only a 15amp-110v controller?

Where would I look online to find products suggested?

You might be able to use the controller to control a "Contactor" (electrician-speak for a relay).

This assumes that it's a simple Off/On control system.

A careful system designer would also consider the implications of the decreased MTBF due to the added complexity.

Hire a qualified electrician. There are code issues as well as suitability issues.
11 Amps on a 10 Amp controller? Not good.
22 Amps on a 15 Amp controller? Even worse.
1.5HP motor? Use an HP rated switch. Look at Square D 9013 series HP rated switches.
