Client does not want to coat welded joints (12-inch width) , but wishes to add extra anode weight and/or reduce spacing based upon higher coating breakdown factor. Is it acceptable practice. I like to know your thoughts.
Which coating breakdown factor should be followed? DNV or ISO?

It is a feasible practice, as can be noted from the text of ISO 15589-2, but it might not be considered as established: see NACE Corrosion 2013, Paper 2258. The coating breakdown factor determination methodology to be applied should be in the client's cathodic protection specification.
