CPRESS

Dear all,

I have a question regarding CPRESS. I have found somewhere (I think in one of the ABAQUS 6.8 manual) the following formula:

CPRESS*0.5=sqrt(CSHEAR1^2+CSHEAR1^2)

Is this formula correct? From this formula looks like CPRESS is a derived quantity either than the contact area.

Does anybody knows more about it?

CPRESS is something Abaqus computes so the documentation is the best place to dig more in to it. You could, however, play with simple models and test the definition.
