Hi everybody, I'm looking for some correlations between spt or cpt test results and soil parameters, such as friction angle, shear strenght, density, elastic moduli, etc.
Is there some good reference, expecially on the web ?
Paul Mayne is a conehead, so dislikes corellating anything to SPT. Now for the disclaimer. These posts get deleted because not all clay soils are alike, etc, but there's some things from Broms on geoforum such as E(SAND) = .5(N+15)MPa and E(CLAY) = 0.6 (N+5)MPa and you can do density as clay = 80 +2N, < 141 and sand = 90 +N, <136PSF
There are a lot of formulae for phi and 125N works OK for clay shear.
Another approach would be to down load the CPT data interpretation software package from the Univ of British Columbia Civil Engineering web site. I think you can still down load the interp program for free as it is considered share ware. This approach would enable you to conduct your own analysis and figure out which method is best for determining the soil properties that you desired.
Paul Mayne's website has lots of reference papers that will help you in determining which approach might be best.
