Hello all,

Does anyone know if abaqus can utilise hyperthreading technolog on something like an Intel i7 CPU to reduce analysis run times?

I would really appreciate your input if you know the answer to this, thanks.

I don't know the answer to that question. However, if you have an excellent cooling system in your desktop, then you may overclock your CPUs but the life of the CPU will go down. Also, and I am not sure how to accomplish this but newer versions of ABAQUS should allow you to exploit graphics card computational resources as well (GPU computing).

An opinion: More often than not, its modeling mistakes that make your models run for days on end.

I have seen some bench marking showing ANSYS runs times being significantly less when hyperthreading was turned on. This is really suprising!

I completely agree with your opinion... but I don't seem to always avoid it :)
