crane application motor? 1

Hi, guys! We're on the verge of seeking alternatives for our revamp and retrofitting of our cranes. Hence, i'm desperately looking OEM for us to decide which best for such application.
Anyone could help me to find out OEM for "Conical rotor motor" aside from DEMAG? I've tried googling such keyword in the Net but still can't get enough alternative information.
Hope anyone could help me find it.

I dont think anyone else makes conical-rotor motors other than Demag. I Cant say I have seen or read about any alternatives here in Europe. There might be someone else in another part of the world who can offer them though.

Stardelta, we're on the same views. I'm tired googling around the Net about this conical rotor but none prevails other than Demag - i think it's patented. There were variants of rotor construction i've seen before usually EURO motor origin with different manufacturers, with much alike construction and application, but not Demag.

Simmers, i need a motor that pretty exact with Demag, conical rotor, for hoisting purpose.

I don't know if they have ever done conical motors, but these folks are some of the most knowledgeable I've ever met on crane and hoist motors, especially odd-balls and custom designs. They sell a lot of other stuff, but C&H is really their bread and butter.

DEMAG do hold the patents on this type of design. They are not impregnable but not many motor companies are willing to invest the time and technology to try and match them.
Conical rotor motors do not lend themselves too easily to control with a frequency inverter and this seems to be the growing trend for a lot of crane/hoist applications. So most motor/drive companies will look further in the future and focus on specific drive techniques to allow more traditional motor/brake control with a VFD as long as the performance and safety issues are taken care of.

speaking of cranes...i have a crane with a counterbalance in the raise and lower functions. why two? and can anyone help me with schematics? how should the pilots be plummed in and which way should the valves be installed? any help appreciated, im desperate. thanks

On the subject of Conical-rotor motors. We have had one in the works this week made by someone other than Mannesmag-Demag. However The motor is very similar in construction to a Demag unit and I suspect its a copy made under license. The makers name is Misia.

Kone Cranes of Finland have used conical rotor motors similar to Demag. It has been a while since I have seen any. The braking scheme was different as I recall.
