Hi, could someone please help me out with understanding the test load combination set out in AS1418.1-2002.
This is combination No.10 in table 4.8 on page 34.
I would have thought that you would add the mass of the crane structure (dead load) and the mass being lifted (hoisted load). Then apply a factor for inertia (phi-4) and another factor for testing (phi-5). This resulting load would be the test load you would apply during commissioning to prove that your crane is strong enough.
For the test combination (column 10) the hoisted load is omitted (line no. 2). I would be grateful if someone can shed some light on this possible anomaly.
