Hi All,

Anyone familiar with the construction of wheel track:

what is the black material? is it a solid rubber that wrap the wheel?

any idea of any company producing the complete assembly in UK or Canada?

The process for making such things is called "rubber overmolding" Googling that phrase should get you a localized list of vendors that can make things for you.
 
IRstuff - he's pointing at a road wheel which has rubber to cushion the vehicle to reduce wear track and noise.

Tracks sometimes have rubber blocks that are there to limit damage done by the track to the road by supporting the track cleats above or just even with the road. AFAIK those blocks come off for field use when no one is complaining about the damage is in charge.

This was the case for the M113s my company upgraded with a variety of attachments. The track pads left big rubber marks all over the vehicle bay concrete.

Aluminum hub, rubber ring, steel tire. Probably a little more wear on the track, but a lot less wear on the exposed rubber tire of other designs. Germans had a slightly different sandwich arrangement when their rubber supplies got pinched.
 
Bogie or road wheel tires are a light interference that's pressed or hammered onto the wheel. Rubber track shoes are bolted onto steel track pads. Both are solid rubber. There are numerous companies in Canada and the UK manufacturing track systems and equipment with tracks, Google and the purchasing dept are your friends.
 
Gentlmen, are you sure that topicstarter meant wheel set, not a toy model set other than one produced by the chinese HobbyBoss? I am not )))

If you want the maintenance guys to hate you consider gluing the rubber to the wheel. This means you can design it as a nice relaxed fit, the rubber is not in tension all the time, so it will last longer. The disadvantage is that removing the old tire becomes a workshop exercise, and you need a good standard of cleanliness for the assembly job - gritblasting for example.
