i need some help, in wildfire when i create a protrusion(extrude) the part comes out as surfaces, how do i change the settings for this, as i am use to the old 2001i which worked in solid form.

also i work in mm and not inches, everytime i start up the software, how can i set the settings and save them, so i dont need to setup units, etc each time.

The config.pro settings for units are:

pro_unit_length UNIT_MM
pro_unit_mass UNIT_KILOGRAM
pro_unit_sys MMNS
ang_units ANG_DEG

"Wildfires are dangerous, hard to control, and economically catastrophic."
"Fixed in the next release" should replace "Product First" as the PTC slogan.

This happens if you try to extrude an open sketch. Make sure that there are no gaps in the sketch before you start the extrude tool.

If it is an open sketch that is being built upon an existing solid feature, you might have to change the feature to solid. There are two buttons on the dashboard on the bottom left side of the screen. The one on the left means that the feature is solid, the one on the right means that the feature is a surface. You will need to make sure material is being added to the correct side of the sketch.

You can also use the config.pro options:

template_solidpart
template_designasm

These will allow you to point Pro/E to a specific start part to use as a template. Set your units on the start part and you should be ok.

Hope it helped

im having problems saving the settings, i have got now an edited session file, with the correct value's but it keeps loading the old settings. do i need to replace an old pro. file with the new current_session.pro?

Save the config.pro to the working directory that Pro/E starts up in, and it will load this file every time.

Cheers
Mark
