I was tring to create a block that had a couple dims and a surface finish call out on it that would be used by several people. When I inserted the block into a new drawing I got the dims but no surface finish symbol.
Does anyone know if this is possible to do.

After inserting your drawing views, click on Insert > Model Items > Surface finish > OK

I think were talking about 2 different things. A block isn't associated to any drawing view.

I don't think symbols can be associated into your Blocks.

This is a limitation to my knowledge

Unfortunately Blocks are within the annotations family and thus support very few other annotations within them. (dimensions and notes primarily)
The best thing to do, might be to draw your own SF symbol within the block, and put the value in as a note. After you make the block, you can right click on it and select `Edit Definition' whereby you can convert the finish value to an attribute by giving it a tag name. At least that way, each instance of the block that you insert later on can have its own value.

well, you CAN associate the block with a DXF, which is exported from a view....
