Create parametric tube models

Hello all,
I have been working with tube models in Nx 7.5, but these are not parametric as they are prepared by the customer. I need to generate the parametric tube models with X Y Z coordinates. Is there a way for this?
(i.e. changing any of X Y Z values or changing bend radius the tube/sweep would change)

So you are new to NX ? Do you have any other CAD experience ?
 
Yes, i have been using NX since last 3 years, Catia V5 since last 4 years.
 
Is this tube planar tube or is this tube a non planar tube or goes in all kinds of directions X,Y,Z.

There is a nice little trick we did in I-Deas. Please see model. It has to do with true radius at the bends. All you have to do is change the point coordinates and the tube should follow. You can go through this model to get an idea what I am talking about. I hope it makes sense.

Have you looked at using the NX Routing Module?

There are sub-modules for most electrical and mechanical routing requirements, including tubing.

We have the tubes as non planer. I tried editing the coordinates in your sample file, but it fails. Please refer attached ppt slide. Is there another way for doing this?

We don't have license for Routing mechanical.

If you're going to be creating a lot of tubing runs then perhaps it might be worth it to purchase an NX Mechanical Routing license.

You have to make a seperate model for each pipe with another amount of holes.
Place all the associative points in the space, for each bend (defined by 3 points) you have to create a datum.
Then you have to create a sketch on each datum, where you build further on the previous sketch.

I made generic models like these on my previous job.
 
I have attached an alternate version of the technique SDETERS used. Instead of using sketches to define the sweep segment I used associative lines with CSYS origins as start and end position, the bend radius is controlled by associative arcs (tangent, tangent, radius with the lines defining a support plane).
Thus the tube is no longer required to be planar, the arcs might "fail" for certain CSYS positions but editing the arc and choosing an alternate solution should fix that.

You have to modify the Ref points at the thoertical sharp points. I hope I helped out a little bit for ya. Have a good weekend.
