I have two parts, and want to create a third part that is = (part1 - part2). I believe that this can be done in assembly but don't recall how. Working with Pro/E WF3.0

Please help. Thanks

No guarantee that this is the best way to do it, but:
1. Activate part2
2. Insert>Shared Geometry>Publish Geometry
3. Select all surfaces in part2 (select one surface, then Shift-select any other surface; should select all surfaces)
4. Go to assembly
5. Activate part1
6. Insert>Shared Geometry>Copy Geometry
7. Select the geometry you just published.
8. Edit>Solidify ... hit the "Remove Material" icon

That should do the trick. Geometry changes in part2 will update in part1-part2 upon regeneration.

You do need the advanced assembly module to use that method.

I haven't tried this without AAX in Wildfire but I suspect it would go something like this.

Select the Component You want to cut Part 1.
Hit the Trim icon or Edit > Trim and select part to use for trimming Part 2.

However Use this suggestion because I don't believe PTC has WILDFIRIZED this functionality yet.

Until that functionality is possible do this.

Insert >Component > Create > Part > Intersect
Component Intersect

or to put the cutout as a feature in a part to control by family table.

Use Edit > Component Operations and choose Cut Out
