I have an assembly of a handful of parts. I would like to make sub assemblies of some of the parts that fit together nicely. My only problem is when I selected the parts and clicked 'move to sub..." The drawing and assembly model (of the sub assembly just created) does not have the standard views. Was I supposed to select the datum planes along with the parts when I created the sub assembly? What can I do to get those default planes in the sub assembly?

When you create a sub-assembly, there should be a check box for use default template - this will use your standard template, with all view set up.

To put the default planes in now, you will need to drag the Insert Here to just after the default cys, and create a plane - this will automatically create all 3 base datum plane.
