creating a block/symbol library 3

Hi all,
I'm wanting to create a stand alone block/symbol library of the various blocks/symbols I've created, and will create in the future. I've searched thru Acad Help but what I find is more related to my future blocks. I would like to "rip" blocks from some of my current drawings to a block library file for my use on any drawing.
Where can I look for better info on setting up a block library, plus how to take (rip) existing blocks (definitions) from current drawings to a file outside of that drawing?

The easiest way for me is to use the "wblock" command. I'm just not sure if that is what you are asking about here?

That was much simpler than I was making it.
WBlock does exactly what I was wanting.

What I have done is also create master block library files where all of the hundreds of blocks are defined. Especially helpful when traveling and you do not have access to a server based blocks.

For instance, if you do furniture plans, and you have all of the parts for a furniture line defined, you can create a master block by inserting all of the parts into it and stopping at the insertion point so that only the block definitions are in the drawing and not the block itself. When you have line A, line B, etc., defined, you can create a master master by using the lines.

As I said, useful if you travel but probably moot with the advent of the Internet, VPN, FTP, and other methods of staying connected to a network when traveling. In my day, the floppy (also known as SneakerNet) was invaluable in getting blocks moved around the office.

If you use 2004 (maybe 2005) or up you could use Tool Palettes for a block library. Just drag and drop the blocks onto the palette.
