I'm looking to make Commercial Parts library to organize vendor parts that I use. What is the best way to do this in inventor so that I can use these intems within all the parts I create. Some things that i am using would be like casters, couplings, or leg leveling guides.

What do you want to know? How to organize the parts within the folder? How to link the files to other files? How to identify the parts?

What we are looking at creating is a central location for "commercial" components. IE, casters, articulated feet... These are componetns that will not be modified by us, hence the "original" file should not be ever changed. So, we are looking for the method to create a "link" between the directory and the "active" project. In the past the part would be placed into the active project. That method is creating issues with commercial parts are revised by the vendor.

If you have a folder with the word "Library" in it and you need to update a part within, Inventor will not allow. You'd have to "save as" make correction and "save as" back.

Now, as far as, linking the folder itself to the project, you should be able to go the project and define a new library path and save.
