Does anyone know a way of creating a picture file (or equivalent) of an assembly. I would like to use the picture in an assembly procedure. If I can snap a picture of what I see on the screen I can paste it into Word or PowerPoint and edit it from there. Right now I print the picture and paste it by hand into the document.

Thanks

In SW2001+, you have the option of saving the screen view as a .JPEG image. This should be easy to copy & paste into a Word document. "Happy the Hare at morning for she is ignorant to the Hunter's waking thoughts."

The best way to do this is with Photoworks but you can get good results with Corel Capture

PWinn,

If you opt for the solution provided by MadMango (JPEG file), you may need to "turn" it on. Under the Tools pulldown, click on Add-Ins and then check-amrk the one called "Solidworks JPEG".

If you want to "massage" the picture with different lighting, floor and wall textures, etc. then by all means manxJim is correct about using PhotoWorks, if you have it. It is a bit confusing to figure out, but once you got it, it can be a benefit.

Good luck,

How about print screen? Hit the print scrn key on your keyboard and do a paste in word. You can then size and crop it the way you want. BBJT CSWP

Isn't that Alt-Print Screen to only copy the active window to your Clipboard? That works well, except I think this creates a BMP file, which is much larger than your average JPG file. I could be wrong though... "Happy the Hare at morning for she is ignorant to the Hunter's waking thoughts."

BMP do tend to get rather large. I use Alt print screen when I am trying to capture a dialog box that is opened. As far as getting a screen shot of the assembly I don't think the alt does anthing for you. BBJT CSWP
