Thus far I have created a stool/chair base using a 1' diameter circlular sketch with a 20" revolve for 360 degrees. Next I have a 2" pipe standing 12" high and perpendicular inside the revolved ring. How can I create an angled plane so that I can join the base ring and the top of the vertical pipe with a straight pipe. I've created a temporary extrusion so that I could make the plane then made the pipe, but when I removed the temporary extrusion I lost the plane also. Any help appreciated.

You may need to make an extra plane to devise a Axis or just make an axis using what you have avaialble versus the options of making an Axis. Then use that Axis to create another plane or maybe the plane your after.

You might have to create a number of planes and Axis to get to where you want. But don't think that everything has to be a feature. Construction Geometry is what most 3D CAD packages are about.

Perhaps start with a 2D or 3D layout sketch at the assembly or component level and use that sketch to create your plane.

Remember that you can also mate to sketch geometry and to sketch entities, axes and planes at the assembly level.

You have good timing. I just learned how to do this today. The Solidworks Help was great. You can use the Index for the word Planes- and on the top of the list is "at angle"
Then you can click on any of the titles that are in green on the help page to find out step by step details.

I love SolidWorks Help, it is very easy to use and follow.
