Creating Multiple Images from Pro/E

Hi there,

My company is looking at creating a database of images showing our product (a large telescope) in multiple positions (1000+) that can be accessed from the internet with a simple look-up table. Is there anyway to create some program/mapkey/proBATCH that would automate the process (the assembly is set-up that when you regen it will ask for new angles for the two axes that the telescope will rotate about) to produce image files (jpg or tif)?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know about programming proE to automate changing positions for you, but I use Hijaak Pro to capture images of my designs. I just get the image on the screen the way I want, do a screen capture, then save it as a jpeg. I then pull those jpegs into Word and create a document with multiple images. It's pretty simple.

It is possible to use design animation in Pro/E, and if you don't know that, you may use a skeleton (datum curve) that will help you show different positions of your product, just by changing an angle, or dimmension. You can create a saved view (the most representative position), and after each change create a JPEG directly from Pro/E (you don't need another software to create JPEGs, or TIFs). Use the saved view for creating all the pictures, this way they will look like shots from a short animation, or viceversa, you may use them to create your animation.

im4cad,

Do you know if it is possible to automate this process (i.e. make pro/e name the jpgs/tifs automatically and save them?) or does the saving of the individual files need to be done manually?

Thanks.

I haven't looked into it lately but the old ProFlythru program would automatically make pics of every view that was saved in the model/assy.
Unfortunately its replacement, ProductView, doesn't do this.

I've been looking at the trail files, and it looks like I can automate a run of pictures through this utility. You can specify file names and when I combine it with the Pro/Program I have for the assembly I can move the model as required. I haven't been able to determine if the trail files support if-else, for, while loops, so will probably use another program to create the trail file. Kind of a roundabout way of doing it, but it works.

Does anyone know of what you can do in the trail files (i.e. what commmands are supported?).

Thanks for all the advice.
