Hi All,
I am trying to make a standard part so it can automatically name itself using the parameters inside the part file / tree. eg. if its is called "PIN-05-__-_x_". The first bit "PIN-05-" is set. Now I want to fill the rest of the _'s from 2 to 4 different parameters being sizes and strings. To "PIN-05-RA-16x50". "R", "A", "16" and "50" all being a parameter.
Anyone ever done something like this?
Thanks Gary.

I forgot to say that i really want to create another string paramter with all this information so i can use it to name the part.
Thanks, Gary.

I haven't done any tests so I don't know if there is an easier way, but you can for sure do that if you set up a rule.

This is a perfect case for the use of design tables.

Hi Guys, I should have let you know, but i did manage. this is how. I created paramaters with all sizes required. I also created string parameter for the Round/Diamond & Flat option. then i created a string parameter for the partnumber as follows. "DES-05-033_"+Form +Flat+ "_"+Hole_DIA /1mm+"x"+L /1mm . Now the bits in ("") are just plain text as you need it displayed. then the bits that have /1mm are to convert measurements to text. I am sure this will work for other types of measures as well, eg. "deg" for angle. The + is to add another parameter. The output looks like this "DES-05-033_RA_16x20". hope this all makes sence.
