Hi All,

Now, we are using the aluminum formwork for slab/ beam for typical slab with 4 day for slab cycle (that means after 1 day we will striking formwork for slab but keep shoring).

Client require us to check the long-term deflection of slab due to early striking of formwork. They worry about the deflection due to creep.

As I found in ACI209.2R-08 code, the ultimate value of creep is 2.35 but the they required 7-days for curing.

So, how to determine the creep value of concrete after 1 day loading. Please advise.

Codes require continuous curing for a specified period for several reasons, not just creep. I think it is ill advised to cure for only 1 day!

Development of all concrete properties requires curing.

Are you re-shoring the second day? and what is manner of curing the soffit of the slab? are form surfaces being removed. What is your sequence of forming and removal as you go up? How many stories? Flying forms? Lots of questions?

Contrary to an earlier thread, I understand that deflection is related to early removal of forms and early loading.

If the client has expressed a concern about creep, err on the safe side... it's his ticket (cheque) and increases your liability. He cannot have it both ways.
