CRES Fastener passivation

Hello,

I am having difficult time finding information on common (commercially available) imperial sized fastener specifications and configurations. Particularly with regard to CRES fasteners used in the USA.

Are CRES fasteners that are purchased 'off the shelf' normally passivated? If not, is there a specification for prior to purchase fasteners that are passivated (maybe for the aerospace industry?). I am trying to avoid having to create manufactured parts for hundreds of CRES screws/nuts/washers we use in various machine designs that may need to be passivated for various applications.

Also, if I am forced to specify a fastener and then a passivation process, what is the most common (to USA) passivation specification that I should reference? I see that MIL-S-5002 is sometimes used, but when I looked it up that MIL spec is inactivated/cancelled.

Thank you much.

Sounds like Cory has you covered. However, a standard note we use on many SS manufactured parts is:

FINISH: CLEAN & PASSIVATE TO SAE AMS 2700.

We researched this about 2 years ago and it sounded about right but I think there's actually more to the story.

FYI thread1135-153287 may be relevant.
