New to the forum so please forgive me.
I have a customer supplied forging (ASTM A565 Grade 616) 422 SST Martensitic SST that requires some weld repair to it. Without having to purchase another forging, is there another spec that I can purchase plate in order to develop a PQR and WPS for the weld repair? Does someone know of a web site that has this cross reference?
Thanks for you input.

I don't believe this grade is available in plate. Bars are also covered by ASTM A 565, so perhaps you could obtain a small section for welding, etc. ASTM A 167 and A 240 cover stainless plate, but I don't think they contain Type 422. My source is the SSINA Designer Handbook "Specifications for Stainless Steel". Their website is

Type 422 stainless is a martensitic grade used in elevated temperature service (limit is 1025 deg F). This material is weldable but selection of filler metal is critical to match elevated temperature strength and creep resistance. Bohelr Thyssen supplies filler metals MTS 4 for SMAW and MTS 4Si for GTAW that come close to meeting the base metal composition of 422.

Thank you TVP for the website. It will be helpful in finding material for weld testing.
Thank you metengr for the weld wire info. I will contact them to find best match.
