Can anyone provide me with a British or European equivalent tool steel specification for WS305-S4 and API P110.

I have no idea what type of steel WS305-S4 or API P110 is. All I have managed to find from our supplier is that it is a tool steel, American and chisels are often made out of it!

Can anyone help or point me in the right direction of a website database of materials. The manufacturing of my design is being halted until I can provide an equivalent British or European spec.

Thanks in anticipation,

Phil.

I can't help you with the first one, but I can with the second one. It is not a tool steel, rather it is a low carbon steel.

API 5CT, SPECIFICATION FOR CASING AND TUBING

P110
Minimum Yield Strength: 110,000 psi
Maximum Yield Strength: 140,000 psi
Minimum Tensile Strength: 125,000 psi
Hardness Requirement: None

Notes: API grade for general use in deep wells. This grade is not generally considered suitable for sour condensate wells.

This specification is available from Global Engineering Documents at:

Unfortunately, WS305-S4 is not a recognized tool steel designation, nor is it a commonly used tradename, etc. You should try to obtain more information on this tool steel. AISI designations are most frequently used in the U.S., of which the following are a few examples:

S4 (a type of shock resisting tool steel)
02 (an oil-hardening grade)
W5 (a water hardening grade)

The most extensive cross-reference of tradenames with AISI designations that I have found is available using the following link:

If you can provide more information, I can supply you with a suitable European-based equivalent.
