The External Floating Roof foam dam on my 180' diameter tank has paraphines from the crude oil. The secondary seal scrapes the shell during production and the paraphines fall into the Foam Dam. Once the heat of the day hits the papraphines they melt and run all over my roof deck. I plan on putting an oil absorbing material in the "V" section of the Foam Dam. This material is supposed to let water through while capturing all of the oils and sheen. Has anybody tried using this approach? Is there something better out there?
