Hi,

In a new project to build a medical module I am in need of cooling down an aluminum block to -180°C (93K) and also to heat it up to a minimum of 200°C (473K). Due to the fact that there are other reactors close to this aluminum block I am in need of a good thermal insulation, that can handle these temperatures and at the same time does not require a thick layer to do this. But I have been looking around an could not find a suitable material. Due to space restrictions (the module is not that big) I need everything to be as small and thin as possible. Has anyone got a good idea how to do this, or which material to use?

The dimensions of the aluminum block are 3,5 mm by 3,5 mm by 12 mm.

Thanks!!

Are you at all concerned about condensation inside?
How much heat does the sample generate, if any?
Have you considered the radiant heat load on the block?
