CSWP Exam 3

What level of experience is regarded as needed before going forward for the CSWP exam?. I know that SolidWorks suggest around 6 months continuous use but do any of you CSWP's have any other opinions?.

For example is there a real need to demonstrate proficiency in the addons such as PDM works etc that make up SW office/office pro? (for the exam).

The reason for asking is that i'm new to SW and only have a single seat, so i've no benchmarks or comparisons with colleagues. The CSWP exam seems to be a good way for benchmarking in my case.

The exam only covers the core SW product. You don't need to know any of the add-ins. SW reccomends knowing everything in the begginner and advanced training manuals in order to prepare for the test. I would say this is a good place to start. You should also feel comfortable with using SW in many areas and be somewhat proficent in many areas of SW. You don't need to be an expert in every area but you should have good knowledge in most areas of the software. You have the use of the help section during the exam but because the exam is timmed there isn't a lot of time to go searching through it. Also the exam is very specific. Like most CAD software there is more than one way to complete a task in SW. When taking the exam you need to "read between the lines" and figure out which method the exam is asking you to use. The exam is all computer graded so there is no slack here. As far as the computer is concearned it's either right or wrong.

If you have been using SW for a while and you have a good understanding and working knowledge of the software you should do fine on the test.
